Brain Customers are a thing.

When people come into my office, they will usually stop and stare in amazement at my most visible Hello Better ‘tools’, before blurting “This is amazing, WTF IS IT?!” This the point where I try to explain how my brain works and how these tools have changed my life.

So - consider my brain a manufacturing facility. Let’s call it Widget Brain Inc. She has customers and these customers submit ‘orders’.

Customers = categories of my brain thoughts

Orders = the plethora of ‘ToDos’ my brain thoughts generate (must do, need to, should do, would like to do)

There are many customers! There’s the household manager customer, the step-mum customer, the good-spouse customer, the fitness customer, the tidy-freak customer, the household improvement customer, the good-friend customer, the good daughter customer, the joy customer. Many different customers. And they all submit their orders randomly ALL F#CKING DAY LONG.

Now - consider a swamped manufacturing facility where there is no ‘order management system’ in place. None. No confirmation of orders, no estimated delivery, no priority method for processing, no receipts issued on order completion. Do the customers just put in their orders and hope for the best? No. No they do not.

  • They resubmit their orders - over and over

  • They call to check if orders have been received

  • They call to see when their order will be ready

  • They call back again - and then again

  • They call, they text, they email, they come to the door (ALL times of day)

  • They keep coming back, they keep reminding you, they keep asking you

  • They get frustrated, they yell at you, they tell you you’re useless

They create SO MUCH noise and hoo-har that poor old Widgets Brain Inc cannot operate efficiently let alone stop dealing with the customer enquiries long enough to GET ANY ORDERS COMPLETED. Widgets Brain Inc is left overwhelmed, overprocessed yet grossly underachieved.

And then comes the tool and system that is the backbone of Hello Better and repeatedly referred to a the ‘Game Changer’.

This simple tool is the equivalent of a robust Customer Order Manager who has taken control of my ‘brain customers’ and their relentless ordering.

The key for me was to not try and stop the orders coming (I have accepted my busy brain condition) – it was implementing a system that quickly acknowledges the order and then keeps the customers quiet. A system where they stop all their debilitating noise, they patiently wait their turn and when their order is completed they are delighted.

This system brought quiet to manic mind noise where no other technique or therapy had helped.

My anxiety reduced, getting to sleep became easier, my concentration improved and so did my capacity to actually get DONE some of the shit my manic brain comes up with! And this feels good, it feels better.

I absolutely love teaching clients about this tool – people feel better instantly and it’s so easy to get started. It’s delivered as part of The Better Project, in our Express Workshops or On Demand via a 2 hour consultation session.
